NEW YORK — Family Equality, the nation’s leading organization advocating for current and future LGBTQ+ families, is delighted to announce that powerhouse Broadway star and 2022 Tony nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role, Shoshana Bean (Mr. Saturday Night, Wicked, Waitress)—accompanied by three-time Tony Award winner and 2022 co-nominee for Best Original Score  (with lyricist Amanda Green) Jason Robert Brown—will perform a song from their now five-time Tony-nominated musical Mr. Saturday Night live at Night at the Pier in New York City at Pier Sixty on May 16. The evening’s program, produced by Academy Award-winner, Bruce Cohen, is shaping up to be a showcase of favored Tony Award nominees, including performances by the cast of SIX—nominated for eight Tonys, including Best Musical—and 2022 Best Original Score & Best Book nominee Michael R. Jackson from A Strange Loop which is nominated for 11 Tonys, including Best Musical, making it the most Tony-nominated musical show of the season.

With more than 300 anti-LGBTQ+ bills introduced across the country, and recent news surrounding the Supreme Court’s leaked draft decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, Family Equality’s Night at the Pier gala garners support for the organization’s work to protect the rights of LGBTQ+ families, while also honoring advocates and leaders in the movement. The night’s honorees include LGBTQ+ trailblazers Jordan Roth and Richie Jackson and Hostetter-Habib Award winner, Lydia Gray-Holifield.
