Sarah Hyde (she/they) is currently the Director of Program Events for Family Equality, having joined the team in February 2023. Their pride and joy is directing Family Week, the largest gathering of LGBTQ+ parents in the world. Sarah has worked in LGBTQ+ nonprofit spaces for a decade, and in that time managed volunteers for large-scale events at organizations including the National AIDS Memorial, the It Gets Better Project, San Francisco Pride, Frameline Film Festival, and more.
Sarah is also a certified sex educator, abortion doula, and domestic violence advocate. Her early career roots are in building and facilitating curricula and events on healthy relationship skills and sex education for queer and trans youth. She utilizes the frameworks of harm reduction, mutual aid, and restorative justice in all of the work that she does. They are compelled by the mission of Family Equality and aim to create events that are accessible, equitable, and centered on trans and BIPOC folks.
